My Swagbucks Review:

I know that there is already a Swagbucks review in this forum. But this one is from my personal blog where I dish frugal advice on how to earn online and through other means. People think “frugal” only applies to money. Well, frugal could also meantime. As a full-time parent and freelancer, time is extremely valuable. I’m constantly scooting from one task to another… all while finding ways to earn.

And that’s how I stumbled upon Swagbucks. I needed a way to earn that didn’t take time away from my responsibilities as a family guy and a working man, and Swagbucks seemed to fill that bill.

There must be a lot of Swagbucks reviews out there on the internet, but I wanted to share my own Swagbucks review, which comes from the perspective of a home-based dad and worker. Hopefully, this article be useful to others out there!

What Is Swagbucks?

As the name implies, Swagbucks rewards you when you complete some pretty easy tasks, which you do on your laptop or phone. This makes Swagbucks really convenient for us stay-at-home or remote worker types. It’s easy for me to do tasks while I watch over my kids while they play in the park, for one.

Tasks on Swagbucks include answering surveys, watching videos, and shopping online. I’ll be discussing these earning methods in greater detail in a bit. But first, I’m sure you’d like to know why they even pay you to do these things, right?

Is Swagbucks A Scam? Why Would They Pay Me?

I know it may seem too good to be true – a site wants to pay you for taking surveys, watching videos, and shopping? Why would a site want to do that?

If you’re worried, don’t be. And that’s because your feedback and opinions are very valuable to companies. These companies like to minimize their risks when making business decisions. To do that, they need to get information from the relevant markets to make better-informed decisions.

And that’s where sites like Swagbucks comes in. Those brands can’t always do market research on their own. Market research is a huge endeavor, and can sometimes involve getting intel from all around the world. So the brands hire Swagbucks to distribute surveys and other tests to its members. The answers are then turned over to the brand.

Since there is money involved here — the brands pay Swagbucks, Swagbucks can pay you, in turn (and they should!). So is Swagbucks safe? Absolutely!

You will also notice that you sometimes get disqualified in the middle of taking a survey. That’s okay. You don’t need to take it personally — and it doesn’t necessarily mean you did something wrong. You most likely got disqualified because the site determined you weren’t the right demographic for the test. For example, the test needed answers from members who are mostly sedentary, but you’re outdoorsy. The site might bump you off. And that’s okay. All you need to do now is go back around and take another survey.

To date, Swagbucks has over 10 million members and distributed over $299 million in earnings to its members. If that doesn’t make the site legit, I don’t know what will!

How Does Swagbucks Work?

Like I mentioned a while ago, you do tasks, and for each one you complete, you earn rewards points (called “SBs”). The longer or more complex the task, the more you earn, of course. When you’ve reached enough points, you can redeem your points as rewards — either cash (which is sent via PayPal) or one of the various gift cards (super convenient for the mom or dad on the go!).

Let’s discuss the main earning methods, and how much you can expect to earn by completing each one.

Answering Swagbucks Surveys

This is perhaps the most common earning method you’ll be using here, and for good reason — surveys, on average, only take 20 minutes to complete. That means they have a great effort-to-pay ratio (just my opinion, of course). And it’s also fun. I mean, how great is it knowing that your feedback is being used by some of the world’s biggest corporations?

Surveys cover a wide variety of topics and pay around 300 SBs each. On average, you will earn an average of $0.22 per survey. Longer surveys will pay more, of course. And shorter surveys will pay less.

At first glance, $0.22 may not look like much, but if you pile on a lot of those per month, your earnings really will add up!

Swagbucks Watch

As the name implies, you earn points by watching videos, which fall under various categories, such as entertainment, sports, and lifestyle. So whatever your interests are, chances are there’s a channel here for you!

You can also download the Swagbucks Watch app (available for Android only), so you can play videos back-to-back on your mobile phone. This is also convenient when out waiting in line in the grocery, doctor's, or dentist's - or waiting for my coffee. The great thing about this is that it’s a passive way to earn. Just switch it on, and leave it on — as long as the videos are running, there’s no additional participation needed.

The tradeoff here is that your earnings won’t be as good as completing surveys. Swagbucks Watch only pays around 150 points per day or $0.005 per video. The key here is to string lots of video views back-to-back.

Online Shopping

This is called “cash-back shopping.” Whenever you shop using the links on the Swagbucks site, you get 4% cashback on select purchases! It’s just like an affiliate link. Sites like Amazon pay Swagbucks whenever one of its members clicks a link and makes a purchase. But unlike other sites, Swagbucks will actually share those earnings with you!

To make the Swagbucks experience even easier, you can install the SwagButton extension for Google Chrome. Do this, and you’ll get a $10 bonus on your first purchase worth $25 or more from select shops! The SwagButton extension is also great for earning passive income – each day you 1 SB a day. Those points will add up!

Referring Friends

Swagbucks also has a great referral program. When any of your friends or family sign up for Swagbucks, you can earn 10% of their earnings for life! This has the potential to be huge, so don’t forget to get your friends on board!

Is Swagbucks Worth It? And How Do I Get Paid?

It is totally worth it! As I mentioned a while ago, the site has distributed over a quarter of a billion dollars to its over 10 million members. So there is definitely money being paid to members. You won’t get rich doing tasks on Swagbucks, but that’s okay — unlike other get-rich sites out there, Swagbucks doesn’t overpromise. The money you make is good for supplementing your income or paying for a fun day out with the family. And you know what? That’s fine with me!

Now, It’s Time To Discuss How To Get Paid…

Once you’ve accumulated at least 500 SBs, you can request a payout, either as cash (which is sent via PayPal) or a gift card. Swagbucks has lots of gift card options, including Amazon, Target, Walmart, and iTunes. Cash is always nice, but you can’t deny the convenience of gift cards!

Now here’s a slightly disappointing fact: it may take 10 to 14 days to receive your rewards (gift cards are digital and sent to your email account).

Keep Your Earnings Safe!

Swagbucks might deactivate your account if you’ve been idle for a certain period of time. This is a real bummer if you’ve already accumulated thousands of SB points. So when you get started on Swagbucks, make sure you keep doing tasks. And you stand to benefit anyway, since the more tasks you complete, the more you earn!

Also, Swagbucks offers sweepstakes for high-value gift cards, which can be worth a hundred dollars or more. With these, you use your points to purchase sweepstakes entries. Please, for the love of all that is good, do not do this! This is akin to gambling your earnings away. It might be tempting, but resist that temptation!

Wanna Get Started?

If this looks like something you’d like to try, simply head over to the Swagbucks site and register. In addition to registering, don’t forget to install the SwagButton Chrome extension and the Swagbucks Watch app.

If you’re always on the move (who isn’t these days?) you can install the Swagbucks app on your iOS or Android phone.

Swagbucks Codes

Swagbucks like to hide codes around their site or elsewhere. Think of it as an online scavenger hunt. Whenever you spot a code, enter it on SwagButton, and earn anywhere from 1 to 5 points. You can also try using a code generator like SBCodez.

Hunting for codes is fun, but I don’t spend too much time on it – I prefer doing actual tasks!

Is Swagbucks Legit?

Thanks for reading my Swagbucks review! Swagbucks is absolute, 110% legit! The site has a great rewards program and a huge number of rewards options for you.

Hope you found my Swagbucks review useful. If you’re looking for a great site for earning some money on the side, check out Swagbucks. You won’t be disappointed!
