Opinions: everyone’s got ‘em. I’m willing to bet that your social media feed is full of people sounding off on whatever the hot new trending topic is. Mine sure is. And most of the time, I’m the one sharing opinions. That’s the awesome thing about the internet. Everyone has a platform to make themselves be heard.
I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels that way because a bunch of survey sites have been popping up. These sites actually let you monetize your opinions! Now, they don’t pay you just to rant and rave about whatever you feel like. As the name implies, survey sites have a bunch of surveys that you can take. You then earn points which you can usually trade for rewards or cash. Pretty cool, huh?
Getting paid to take surveys may seem too good to be true. And for sure, there are some not-so-legit websites that are taking advantage of people who want to make money easily. I’m writing this article to discuss Global Test Market (LINK: https://www.globaltestmarket.com). I gave them a try a couple months ago and can share informed opinions about the site. Wanna know if they’re a legit way to make money? Read on!
What are Surveys?
First, let’s talk about surveys. What are surveys, and why are you getting paid to take them?
The business world thrives on data. They love knowing things like who uses their products, where these people are located, and why they use the product. Companies also want to know why people aren’t using their products. This intel is valuable to companies, which use it to make better-informed business decisions. Everything from marketing campaigns to new product development is based on market research.
Remember New Coke? In the mid-1980s, Coca-Cola tampered with its classic recipe in a bid to regain lost market share. The company already had an inkling based on research and surveys that replacing the original formula was the wrong thing to do. The plan backfired; people hated it (to say the least). The moral of the story? Pay attention to your survey answers!
Conducting surveys is one-way companies do market research. They sometimes do the research themselves, but to get a larger sample size, they may also hire research and survey companies. That’s where companies such as Global Test Market come in. And market research is a huge, multimillion dollar industry.
Most of the surveys Global Test Market conducts is about food, entertainment, technology, and also politics. Before taking a survey, you may have to fill out a screening questionnaire. This is to ensure that the people taking the survey are from the correct demographic.
The surveys you take will range from ten to 50 questions. The time it takes to complete a survey will depend on the number of questions, but I’ve rarely spent more than a few minutes on one.
How to Start Taking Surveys and Start Earning
First, head over to https://www.globaltestmarket.com and register. Registering is free. (On a side note, don’t trust any survey website that charges you upfront just to become a member. That should be a red flag)
The site will require personal info, including name and contact details. I need to stress that you should provide correct information. Providing wrong or inaccurate information might cause problems when it’s time to get your payouts.
The site needs this info to accurately connect you to surveys that are suitable for your demographic. Whenever a survey that matches your profile becomes available, you will get an email notification about it. You can also log in anytime to personally check if there are any surveys you can try taking.
Every survey you complete will earn you “market points” (which I discuss in the following section). You can convert these points to cash.
Earning Potential
As mentioned, you get market points for every survey you complete. One market point is equivalent to half a cent. A survey will get you anywhere from 15 to 100 market points. Some high profile surveys may pay up to twice that amount in points.
Generally, the longer the survey, the more points it pays out. How much you earn will really depend on how much time you put into this. I don’t want to mislead you and say this is a get-rich scheme. You need to complete lots of surveys to earn big bucks.
You can then redeem your points as cash. But note that there’s a 1,000 market points ($5) minimum payout. You can also choose to save these points. That’s what I did. I kept accumulating points for almost one year, and withdrew almost $700!
Also, note that the company pays through cheque. Once you request a payout, you’ll have to give it up to a month to arrive. So keep that in mind.
Bonus Points!
To help you boost your earnings, Global Test Market introduced a bonus program. These bonuses are reserved for their most prolific users. I usually got 10 bonus market points, but there were times that bonus was 20 points! These usually came after a week or so of diligent survey-taking.
I highly recommend you take surveys regularly. That way, you earn bonus points and maximize your earnings.
The Verdict: Legit or Scam?
Global Test Market is legit! It’s a great way to earn a few bucks while filling out surveys, which isn’t really that difficult. You’ll have to complete tons of surveys to make big bucks, which is why I recommend you do this for beer money… not paying rent!
