1v4 And 1v1 Training

There are two training methods that you have to learn as a teacher in Magic Ears – the 1v4 and the 1v1. The training is paid, and you will schedule it at your own convenient time.

The 1v4 training consists of four teachers and one trainer which will last for half an hour. With this, the trainer will tell you of Magic Ears policy and teacher expectations for each session.

As for the 1v1 training, you will use the Magic Ears platform, and it will last for up to 45 minutes. Here you will learn all about classroom teaching and materials. The materials are given to you ahead of time.

Trial Class

After completing the 1v4 and 1v1, you will then have to undergo the trial class. All materials in the session will be sent before the event. In trial class, you will teach four learners, and your supervisors will evaluate the 25-minute session.

If you showed potential, the supervisors would offer you a contract subject to a background check. Sometimes, teachers are declined at this point. If you made a few mistakes, you might be given a second chance, and again, you have to complete a second trial class with flying colors.

Magic Ears Contract And Background Check

Complete the background check requirements so that you can move on to Magic Ears’ 6-month contract. Once everything is in order, you may now handle sessions online.

It is crucial to open your teaching week to at least five hours (10 slots). Also, be sure to schedule lessons at least two weeks ahead.

If ever you get negative feedback, the supervisor has to verify this by being present during your classes. Plan your lessons and use appropriate teaching tools.

All sessions are conducted in Magic Ear’s integrative platform:
  • The platform has a quick-acting HELP function.
  • You can send virtual rewards to your students with the REWARD button.
  • The screens are movable for the kids' benefit.

OUR VERDICT: Scam Or Legit

I once tried a similar service. Not as a tutor but as a student. I was studying Spanish and it was hella expensive and honestly I did not learn much. I think I’ve learned more from language apps such as Babbel and Duolingo. Just my 2 cents. But of course this shouldn’t deter you from making money as a paid tutor.

I think it would be great to be a tutor. I don't have the credientials though. But it does seem fun to teach.

Getting an ESL certificate is fairly easy especially if you are a native speaker. I know of a lot of people who are not native English speakers who have taken the ESL certificate and gone on to teach English in Asia and online. If you enjoy teaching you should definitely look into it, I think it can be done fairly cheaply,

Great Magic Ears ears review! If anyone has some language teaching chops, specifically English, I highly recommend you give this a shot.

I think there’s a big opportunity teaching English to Chinese citizens today. China is becoming more and more open to global business, and while Mandarin Chinese is the most-used language in the world, English is still the de facto language when doing business.

Since many western businesses come to China (especially Shenzhen, which is part of the Guangdong Province) to have their products manufactured, more and more Chinese parents want their kids to speak fluent English. (Although a lot of adults also want to learn how to speak English) And that’s where you come in.

By teaching on Magic Ears, you’ll be helping people build better global business links. It’s not “just” teaching English. Without companies like Magic Ears, and English instructors such as yourself, Sino-Global business relations probably won’t be as good as it is.

I will say, though, that knowing how to speak Chinese (especially Mandarin, although Cantonese is also useful) will help the process greatly. Although lessons have to be done completely in English - you can’t adlib or translate to Chinese, mid-lesson - knowing how to speak in their own language helps break the ice a bit.

Good luck!
