Harris Poll Online Complete Surveys for Points and Rewards.jpg

G’day folks. I’ll be reviewing another survey site for you today: Harris Poll Online. If you’ve been looking for a new survey site to try, and have been wondering whether Harris Poll Online is legit, read my Harris Poll Online review to find out!

Harris Poll Online: First Impressions

Harris Poll Online looks pretty slick. It uses inspiring outdoorsy photos (most likely stock) to give it that aspirational vibe. The actual content is passable. There’s a thorough FAQ section, which will be your source for all the info you’ll need.

Another thing I liked: the site is available in US English, US Spanish, Canadian French, and Canadian English.

My Hot Take: A satisfactory first impression. The design is nice and the FAQ section is thorough, but there’s not much beyond those.

How to Earn on Harris Poll Online

The earning method on Harris Poll Online is pretty basic - you take surveys, then earn points (called “HIpoints” on the site) for each one you complete. You can then redeem these points or use them to go shopping on the site’s own product catalog. As an added incentive, each survey you complete will earn you a Harris Panel Sweepstakes entry. The raffle is pretty impressive - gives away $10,000 in prizes every quarter!

Members need to qualify for surveys. This is done to ensure that the person taking the survey actually fits its target demographic. For example, if you’re a teenager, the site won’t assign you surveys about alcohol and tobacco. This is pretty standard procedure among all survey sites I’ve tried using.

There will be times when you will get disqualified in the middle of taking a survey. There are usually two reasons for this. First, the site already received enough answers and is shutting down the survey, even if you’re still taking it. Second, you either provided faulty or inconsistent answers, or the site decided that, whoops, turns out you’re not the target demographic for that survey.

On other survey sites, getting disqualified in the middle of taking a survey is a major pet peeve of mine. Because when you get disqualified, you usually don’t get any earnings for your effort. I also think the site should do a better job of tracking that sort of stuff. If I don’t actually qualify for a survey, why assign it to me in the first place?

But what’s different with Harris Poll Online is that if you get disqualified, you still get a raffle entry! It’s still not enough to compensate for the lost time and expectations, but hey, I’ll take it. It’s better than nothing, right?

What About a Referral Program?

Nope, nothing. Nada. Zero. Zilch. You can tell your friends about this site, but you won’t earn anything when they do join. A referral program is a must-have for me, so it’s really disappointing that Harris Poll Online doesn’t have it.

Keeping Track of Notifications

Unlike other survey sites, you won’t get email notifications when a survey becomes available, and that’s because the Harris Poll Online recently went from email-based to website-based. That means the site doesn’t really use your email for correspondence - all notifications will be done on the site itself.

Since it’s easy to lose track without email notifications, I recommend using their mobile apps. That way, you don’t miss out when a survey becomes available.

My Hot Take: The only way to earn on this site is by completing surveys (I don’t really count raffles, since it’s a matter of luck). That’s not such a bad thing, especially since I still get raffle tickets whenever I get disqualified. But what isn’t good is the lack of a referral program. See, referrals comprise a big chunk of my earnings on other survey sites. Without referrals, my earnings really take a hit.

Earning Potential on Harris Poll Online

After you complete a survey, it’ll take about ten minutes for the points to appear on your profile, but give it up to 24 hours, maximum.

Your actual earnings will depend on the number of surveys you qualify for, and the ones you actually complete. Since you won’t be getting any email notifications, I recommend using the app so you don’t miss out on any available surveys.

Your points will expire if you don’t complete a survey after 12 months.

My Hot Take: Based on what I’ve heard around the interwebs, earning potential isn’t so good on Harris Poll Online. It used to be awesome, but now it may take weeks before you receive a survey notification.

Payout Options Harris Poll Online

There used to be a minimum withdrawal of 1,250 points (equivalent to $10). But now you can cash out whenever you want, which is a major plus.

You can use your points to shop in their rewards catalog. You can get gift cards from Starbucks, Amazon , iTunes, and other vendors, or buy real-world products from their catalog. The cool thing is the shipping costs are already built into the costs. The site is also proud of not charging any hidden costs and stuff.

If you’re wondering “where’s the cash option?” Well, there isn’t any. All you can do is use your earnings to buy stuff from their catalog. So basically, when you use this site, you’re locked into their rewards ecosystem.

My Hot Take: Gift cards and goods are nice, but where’s the cash? I need my PayPal option! Because to me, cash is always king, baby. I can live without gift cards, but not having cash makes this site a hard pass for me.

How to Join Harris Poll Online

If you’d still like to try the site, memberships are open for anyone ages 13 and above. You can join the site by registering and downloading the apps using the links below:

Website: https://www.harrispollonline.com/
iOS: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/harris-panel/id1143571208
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nielsen.harris

The apps are pretty essential when using Harris Poll Online because they no longer use email notifications. You will know when a survey is available through the mobile app.

The Verdict: Legit or Scam?

Harris Poll Online is legit, but lackluster. I liked the fact that they give you raffle entries any time you get disqualified in the middle of taking a survey. But everything else is mediocre to bad. The lack of a cash payout and long wait between surveys are the biggest knocks on the site.

Give it a try, if you want. But get ready for a disappointing experience.

In my opinion you should definitely signup with Harris Poll. As you said in your review it's a bit lacklustre but they do have exclusive survey inventory which a lot of other sites do not have. They just re-broker the surveys. With Harris Poll it will take some time make enough to get a payout which is why you shouldn't rely solely on them as your only source of survey revenue but instead make it part of your daily routine, like log in, see if there is any surveys for you and if there then complete them, if not then go to another survey site and do one there. But in short Harris Poll Online is definitely legit and not a scam.

Hi Guys here is just a heads up . Recently there seems to be a lot of complains that Harris Poll has less reviews and that it's gotten harder to make money there. I used them before and never had a bad experience ( but that was before 2018). They have been around for 45 years and been paying people steady for market research in canada and the usa but I just heard from people that they're going "down hill". I always loved their site especially the sweepstakes where you get entry points if you get disqualified from a survey. Still I would've preferred the money but better than nothing. For me personally I'd say Harris Poll was and will always be legit but its gotten harder to get new surveys lately from what I heard. Just mix it up and don't use them solely for your beer money income I'd say.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, in the months since I posted my review, surveys have gotten more and more scarce. Really sucks. Plus, the fact that there aren't any email notifications makes it a bit hard to use. I still think they're okay as a back-up rewards site.

I used to love Harris Poll. They were my first 'make money online', opportunity when I was in high school. Back in the day (2004), Harris Poll has a great catalog with the rewards ranging from gift cards, paychecks, and physical items. It was them that I was able to get a special invite from MTVIP and made on there like 150 dollars worth of Amazon gift cards. Man, I missed those days. Now, I haven't been on there for a good two years now. I still received e-mails from them but not much and the points system just kinda ruined it for me. It would take me four months just to get a high reward.

I'm with you all. They used to be one of my favorite survey providers but about a year ago they started to go downhill so I simply stopped using them. they always paid out back then but then they started to add less surveys and it was harder to make any money on the platform at all.

I stopped using them about a year ago and after seeing this thread I don't see a reason to give them another shot. If you ask me find some of the better rated survey providers out there and skip harris poll. I wouldn't go that far calling them a scam but they're def not as great as before.
